The 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' Jam of 16th Sept @ Bandra

A nice eventful jam. Although it was a day of the Ganpati Visarjans for many, and quite a few of our gang was not there, but you see our jam is no less than a religious ritual and it goes on! And we thought of merging the jam with the Ganpathi processions and being part of the great spirit of this unique festival of Mumbai. Quite a few people from the last jam appeared again to be part of the ever growing band. Deepti, an outdoor broadcaster from Red FM covered the jam, interviewed us (me hehe!) about the concept and braodcasted excerpts the next day on 93.5 FM at 9:30 Am. Another of Vinay's friend was interested to publish about the concept as well. A nice Ganpathi song which we improvised on the moment for the spirit of the Ganpathi festival, was aired as well! We wore the T-shirt banners advertising MFM's jam and website and also distributed the "I support MFM" badges. We passed a scrapbook around for comments and got many nice uns! We also had the honour of having Vinod Shreedar, who works with Leslie Nazareth in Phasefive (www.phasefive.org), an entrepreneurial organization which works for a more holistic world (please go through the whole site for a proper intro) be part of the jam!

For the guitar-bashers, it was the day of the string breaks, with passions running high! A lot of people participated and we had some nice talent on board! Gajendra and Dependra, the two guitar gangs kept up the jam with full spirit while we talked to people who wanted to know about the concept!

So here is how it went: (Thanks Nishant as usual for covering the 'event'!)

I was visiting Mumbai for the weekend(live in Hyd) and was told my Vinod about this session .. glad I could actually be there with Vinod and Aruna - had a fantastic time ! .. just singing aloud, soaking in the positive vibe and sharing the evening with some very talented and highly enthusiastic music lovers ! Just loved the simplicity, freedom and warmth .. This is a must-do for everyone, and once you've done it, its going to be a little difficult to do anything else at that time on a Sunday evening in Mumbai ! :) Rock on !
